Valle is located in the centre of southern Norway, and the area is excellent as a point of departure for trips to nearby attractions.Along the road to Suleskar/Stavanger, the visitor will find interesting spots like pearls on a string.
Day trip 1 – Lysefjord and Kjerag About 75 km from Setesdal, you will find the fjord of Lysefjorden,with Lyseboth and Kjerag – a sepctacular part of Norway. Turn off from Highway 9 at Nomeland, approximately 2 km north of Rysstad,
and follow the Suleskar road. The distance to Suleskar in the valley of Sirdal is 42 km. In May every year, Norway’s toughest marathon is organised here. The road is open in the period between 20 May and 1 November. The gradient is 10 % along the first stretch. The highest point, Vardsvatn, is 1052 m. You pass into the county of Vest-Agder by the lake of Rosskreppfjorden, and shortly after you start the descent to Suleskar. Turn left at the intersection. About 1 km further on, you turn right in the direction of Lysebotn. Another mountain pass follows before you descend 950 m through 27 hairpin curves to Lysebotn. This is one of Norway’s most spectacular roads!At the top is Øygardstøl, where you can walk to Kjerag – a 1000 m mountain formation. Here is also the well-known Kjeragsbolten formation. Return the same way – a fantastic day trip.
