CULTURAL DETOX – THE CIRCLE OF LIFE

Experience nature
through Sámi eyes

We welcome you to calm down, go beyond your reality and experience nature through Sámi eyes
SÁMI SUSTAINABILITY

Everything is connected

Nature is the center of Sámi spirituality and humans are an integral part of nature, with a personal relationship with everything that lives and is there. For personal interaction with nature, we Sámi have a spiritual language – stories and rituals – that reminds us of our values. When we manage our relationship with nature in relation to Sámi values, we work on the side of sustainability.
During your stay, you will experience nature with all your five senses. And we will guide you to slow down with mindfulness and forest bathing and to go beyond what you know with Sámi spirituality.

TIME FOR A BREAK?

What we can offer

FOREST BATHING

Forest bathing is about allowing ourselves to be drawn into, and surrounded by, nature in a relaxed state. About bathing with all our minds in what we feel, see, hear, taste and smell in nature. Research shows that with regular forest bathing and / or mindfulness, we can achieve many health benefits such as reducing stress, boosting the immune system, better mental health and strengthening of our cognitive abilities. And Sámi Safari Camp is perfect for peace, harmony, and thoughtfulness.

MINDFULNESS

Mindfulness is when, through various exercises, we help ourselves become present to the “here and now”. When we practice mindfulness in nature, we observe nature within and outside ourselves. It gives us mental rest, calms us while we become more receptive to the beauty of nature. What characterizes mindfulness in nature, and how it differs from forest bathing, is that in addition to what we experience with our minds, we also make ourselves aware of what is going on inside our body. Research shows that with regular forest bathing and/ or mindfulness, we can achieve many health benefits such as reducing stress, boosting the immune system, better mental health and strengthening of our cognitive abilities. And Sámi Safari Camp is perfect for peace, harmony, and thoughtfulness.

SPIRITUALITY

The circle of life is a term for indigenous peoples’ view of life. Translated into Lule Sámi language, it becomes – Iellema gærdda – Life’s reindeer garden.
Indigenous peoples’ spirituality has traditionally been ecocentric. This means that nature has always been at the center of our spiritual traditions. In our understanding of the world, man is an integral part of nature, with a personal relationship to everything that lives and is there. All our relationships should be characterized by balance and reciprocity. And like other indigenous peoples, we Sámi also have a spiritual language – stories and rituals – for personal interaction with nature and to remind us on our values.
Through our Sami stories – from pre-Christian times to today – we guide you into the circle of life. You get to visit the places for the stories and experience how the stories inspire and guides us in all our relationships today.

SUSTAINABILITY
Sámi sustainability means that we must use the land in such a way that many generations after us will be able to live, use and harvest from it like us. To remember this, we Sámi have stories and rituals that tell us about how to live as a good person in relation to everything that is in nature. And nature is more than the forest, the paths, and the lakes. It is also all that has been, is, and is to come. Everything we can see and experience, and everything we can’t see. We humans are nature, and we depend on nature for our survival. When we manage our relationship with nature in relation to Sámi values, we work on the side of sustainability.
