Lårdalstigen "Tøffare enn Besseggen"

Description of the walk Lårdalstigen is a challenging, but fantastic walk with speactacular views from the edge of the mountain ridge above the Telemark Canal. Along the hike, you will pass through old cultural landscape and historic sites. You can stop and admire the rugged silhouettes of Risen and Gygri, and read about the legend associated with these rock formations. Perhaps you will also spot ospreys? Most people choose to start the walk at the top of Eidsborgberget, above Dalen, and walk to Lårdal, but it is also possible to start the hike in Lårdal and walk the opposite direction. From mid-May to mid-September you can enjoy the one way from the deck on one of the ferry boats M/S Victoria or M/S Henrik Ibsen on the Telemark Canal. Remember to book the ferry in advance if you want it to stop in Lårdal. The total length of the hike 14 km and a long days walk, or you can bring your tent and make it a 2 day hike. There is also a small cabin along the way, Heddebu, which is open to hikers. The beautiful village of Lårdal has idyllic squares and a pleasant lakeside area with the old quay for the ferries on the Telemark Canal. There are also accomocation and eating place in Lårdal.
