First opened in 1870 to welcome aristocratic Britons, who came to fish the region’s legendary salmon rivers, Trondheim's white-domed Britannia Hotelreopened in April 2019 after a multi-year $160 million-dollar renovation.
Now celebrating 150 years of luxury hospitality, Britannia has six restaurants & bars, including Speilsalen, Christopher Davidsen’s (Bocuse d’Argent 2017) first signature restaurant. Classic French cuisine with a modern Norwegian slant, severed in the palatial setting of the 19th century mirrored dining room. A celebration of Trondheim’s status as the home of the world’s best seafood, as well as local organic meat and award-winning dairy products.
Guests can be collected from the airport in the hotel’s very own electric London Black Cab, and may choose to stay in the Tower Suite, a 220m²penthouse built into the aforementioned dome, complete with golden bathtub, grand piano and private wine cellar. All rooms in the hotel have beds by Hästens and bathrooms clad in Carrara marble. Indulge in the 1,400m² spa with indoor pool, and dive into the à la carte breakfast in the iconic palm court, Palmehaven.
Sip on Britannia’s exclusive own Champagne in Vinbaren, a living wine cellar, where you can try hundreds of vintage wines by the glass, in a room lined by 10,000 bottles.
